ARTIST NOTES

"Eddie delivers stunning guitar work, choreography and vocals. His show is exceptional. His rendition of blues classics like "Walking the Back Streets and Crying" leave Blues fans wanting more! And he brings it on!" - sw Vicksburg Blues Society

Eddie Cotton, Jr. is an electric blues guitarist from Clinton, Mississippi His energy, style and passion on stage reflect his commitment and understanding of what the Blues is all about. Eddie Cotton's performances are deeply engaging. His style is highlighted by his powerful vocals and delivery of absorbing lyrics, his magical expressions and moves, and his stunning guitar prowess.

A minister's son, Eddie Cotton Jr. grew up singing and playing gospel music at church and playing the music of blues legends like B.B. King.

Cotton studied music formally with Dr. London Branch at Jackson State University in his hometown of Jackson, MS, and took lessons from Jackson-area bluesman King Edward Antoine. He went on to serve as minister of music at his father's church. This combination of musical interests is precisely what engages Cotton's audiences, who appreciate his combination of classic electric blues with funky rhythms, soulful vocals and some downright blistering guitar playing.

Whether he's punctuating old favorites with his own inflections or crooning a Cotton original, audiences take notice of this Blues artist who demonstrates deep respect and appreciation for his craft.

Eddie Cotton, winner of the Vicksburg Challenge, will advance to compete in the 31st International Blues Challenge, January 20-24, 2015, Memphis, TN. Mississippi will be well represented!
